This weeks theme!

This week, I decided to try something different. Actually, I just wanna make everyone draw something ridiculous, so the theme for this week is Sylvester Stallone. Enjoy!

This is my(Jack Carter, or Uncaringmachine) quickly done Batman sketch. I wonder just how long Bats will sit in one spot, hoping someone will get mugged...
Devin Blake's Batman isn't afraid of no dog.

One more Mario!

Here is one more Mario before we get to the Batman submissions for the week, by Keyea Smith. Enjoy!

This weeks theme: BATMAN!!!!!!

Okay, this week Devin Blake, aka Ghost, picked the theme. I'm not sure everyone will know who this character is, but you can always google it. This weeks theme is: Batman! Alright, I'm a HUGE Batman and Superman fan, but Batman edges Supes out ever so slightly. Who will be up to the challenge and whip up some cool Batman art? Get to it!

Flying Mario!

Prosodi decided to grace us with a flying squirrel suited Mario. At least I think it's a squirrel. Raccoon? I'm sorry, I only played Mario up until the first Super Mario Bros! Somebody help!

Another Mario...

Here's a quick heroic Mario I sketched. I might try a more cartoon version later this week though....

It'suh him, Mario.

Here is Ben's Mario before being broken up into blocks...

More Mario...

This is Ben Chamberlain's post-modern take on Mario, showing us how technology and video games in particular have taken us down a slippery slope of bitterness and angst, into a den of loneliness and despair, where we care not for our fellow man, nor what will happen to society in the years to come....well, that's what I got from it. What do you think?

First Mario!

Devin Blake whipped up this angry Mario while on vacation at Disney World, and says that she used a "ballpoint pen and shaded with pencil and Copic Markers", and took a picture of it with her phone. Cool, no?

This weeks theme!

Okay, this week I figured we would go in a completely different direction, although it's still a very famous and popular character. We will be trying our hand at the overall-wearing, never actually doing any plumbing plumber, Mario! Yes, the Mario from the Nintendo video games. Well, there you have it, and I can't wait to see the different version of that little Italian high jumper. Get to it!

One more Frankenstein Monster...

This monster was sketched for us by Carlo Ostrout. Check out his webcomic, Life After Death, by following the link in the links section.

More Frank!

Here's another Frank by Prosodi, creator of The Darker Matter webcomic. Reminds me just a bit of Marilyn Manson. Enjoy!

More Frank goodness...

This is Jack Carter's (my) second attempt at a Frankenstein pic. I like both about the same....kept having trouble with his eyes though. Oh well. I tried :)

More Frank action!

Here is a really clean lined Frank from Sam Charette, using Jotnot, an iphone app. Cool!

Cyber-Frank!

Here is a cyborg style Frankenstein monster drawn by none other than Jason Clements(Lightfoot on Comicdish), of the webcomic Pulse. Be sure and give it a read!

This is Jack's (Uncaringmachine) cartoon style version of Frankenstein's monster, with another one on the way in a day or two. Check out his superhero webcomic, Captain Ahole, by clicking on the link to the right.

Another Frank sketch!

Here is Ghost's version of Frankenstein's monster....pretty original take, no? She says it was inspired by Robert Deniro's Frankenstein monster. Check out her comic, Monster Soup, by clicking on the link to the right.

Very first Frankenstein sketch!

Here is Ben Chamberlain's version of ole Frank. Be sure to check out his webcomic, Supermassive Black Hole A*! Click the link to the right!

First weeks theme!

Alright, I'm going to go ahead and put up the first weeks theme now, just to get things started. I don't have a set group of artists yet, but that's okay. When I do their names will be to the over to the right. Okay, let's see...the first weeks theme, which will end on Sunday, April 8th, is.....Frankenstein! I figure Frank isn't getting any love right now, seeing as how zombies and vamps are hogging the spotlight. Okay, there you have it, so let's see who takes on this challenge. Sketches will be posted as soon as they are submitted!

First post!

Hello everybody, and welcome to Drawing A Blank! This idea came from seeing all the vast talent out there, and viewing a site called Comic Twart. The idea of the site is that there is a group of artists, and each week one of them picks a theme, and they all draw their particular visions of that theme, and they get posted to the site for all to see. I instantly fell in love with the idea, and, well, here we are. I'm currently putting together a group for our very first theme, and the art will be up soon! Personally, I can't wait! Check back often, and follow my Twitter(@uncaringmachine) for updates!
